Terms of Service
Last updated 28 October 2026
These terms cover using golo — the booking and matchmaking system for Golo Badminton club nights at golobadminton.com. By joining a session, booking a spot, or signing in as an organiser, you agree to them. See also our Privacy Policy for how we handle your data.
What golo is
Golo is a tool for running club badminton nights: booking a spot, joining a session with a code, and letting the system arrange fair doubles games as you play. It’s provided by Golo Badminton for the club’s own nights, on a best-effort basis, not as a commercial service with guaranteed uptime or support levels.
Accounts and access
Players don’t need a password — your email address identifies you across nights, and a device cookie remembers you. Keep the session code and any booking or cancellation links you’re given to yourself; anyone who has them can act as you within that session. Organiser (admin or host) accounts are issued by the club and are for club organisers only.
Bookings and payment
Booking a spot reserves it, subject to the club’s capacity and the cut-off shown when you book. Prices are shown on the booking page before you book. How to pay is shown on your booking confirmation: by PayID, which an organiser marks paid once they’ve matched your payment, or online through Stripe, which marks it paid as soon as the payment goes through. Online, you can pay from your bank account by PayTo, at the price plus a fee of 1% + 30c (at most $3.50), or by card, at the price plus a card fee of 1.65% + 30c. Each fee is what that payment costs the club, and is shown before you pay.
Cancelling a booking
- Cancel at least 48 hours before the session starts and you get a full refund. Cancel online with the link in your confirmation email.
- Within 48 hours, no refund is given. Please find another player to take your spot; you can ask in the club’s WhatsApp group.
- If the club cancels a night, everyone booked on it gets a full refund.
Memberships
A membership covers a set number of nights each month, billed monthly, every 3 months, every 6 months or yearly. Memberships are paid online through Stripe, our payment processor:
- By direct debit from an Australian bank account, at the membership price. You authorise the club to debit the amount for each period, under the Direct Debit Request you accept when you join.
- By card (including Google Pay and Apple Pay), at the membership price plus a card fee of 1.65% + 30c, which is what the card payment costs the club. The fee is shown before you pay.
Renewals are taken from the bank account or card you used, a few days before each period starts, and you’re told the amount and date first. Your membership covers you only for periods that have been paid: if a renewal isn’t paid by the end of the current period, cover stops from that day.
- Monthly: runs to the end of the paid month. Cancelling stops the next payment; there is no refund for the current month.
- 3-monthly, 6-monthly and yearly: cancelling refunds the unused part pro rata, based on the club weeks left in the period. You can pause for up to 1 week (3 months), 2 weeks (6 months) or 4 weeks (yearly), and the period end moves back by the same amount.
- Late cancellation: cancelling a covered booking within 48 hours still uses one of that month’s nights. An organiser can give it back.
- Not transferable: a membership is for the member’s personal use only. See the fair use policy below.
Membership fair use
Memberships are priced for one player coming regularly, plus the occasional friend. To keep that fair to everyone who pays for their own place:
- Personal use.A membership belongs to the player who joined. Your covered place is for you alone: it can’t be shared, lent, sold or used by anyone else, and someone else can’t play in your place on a night you booked. Don’t share your account sign-in.
- Who counts as a guest.A guest is a friend who plays at Golo once a month or less, and who comes with you on the night you book them. A regular player, anyone coming more than once a month, isn’t a guest and books their own place or membership. Each membership type shows how many guest nights it includes each month.
- Genuine bookings.Book covered nights you intend to play. Nights are often full, and a place held but not used is one another player couldn’t have.
What the club may do.If a membership or its guest places are used in a way that doesn’t follow this policy, organisers may, at their discretion: charge the casual price for the places involved, stop covering guests on that membership, or suspend or cancel the membership. We’ll talk to you first and tell you why. If we cancel a membership, a 3-monthly, 6-monthly or yearly membership is refunded for its unused part pro rata, and a monthly membership ends at the end of the month already paid.
Refunds
A payment made through Stripe is refunded the way it was paid, to your card or bank account; anything else is refunded by bank transfer. If something looks wrong with a payment, please contact us first — we’ll sort it out faster than a dispute through your bank.
On the night
Ratings and game selection exist purely to arrange fair, varied games — they’re not a formal or transferable skill grading, and the club may recalibrate the rating system at any time. Organisers may pause, remove, or reassign a player on the board, or end a session, at their discretion — for example to manage a dispute, an injury, or the night running over.
Conduct
Play fairly and treat other players, hosts and organisers with respect. Organisers may restrict or refuse access to golo, at a session or generally, for behaviour that disrupts the club or other players.
Assumption of risk
Badminton is a physical activity and carries an inherent risk of injury. You play at your own risk. Golo only schedules and matches games — it has no role in venue safety, equipment, coaching or supervision, which remain the club’s and venue’s responsibility on the night.
No warranty, limitation of liability
Golo is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, Golo Badminton is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for injury, loss or damage arising from playing at, attending, or being unable to book a club night, including from an outage, a matchmaking or booking error, or an inaccurate rating.
Changes
We may update these terms or the service itself from time to time. If a change matters, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
