Golo Badminton (“golo”, “we”, “us”) runs the club night booking and matchmaking system at golobadminton.com. This page explains what we collect, why, and who can see it.
What we collect
If you play or book a spot: your name, email address, and (if you make a booking) your phone number. We keep a record of the sessions you attend, the games you play, your results, and a skill rating we calculate to arrange fair games. You don’t need a login or password to play or book — your email address is how we recognise you across nights, and a signed cookie on your device remembers you for up to 180 days so you don’t have to re-enter it every time.
If you choose to sign in: you can sign in to a player account with Google or with a link we email you. Signing in is optional. With Google, we receive your name, email address and Google account ID, and use the ID only to recognise you next time. With an email link, we keep a scrambled copy of the link and the address it was sent to for up to a day; the link itself works once, for 20 minutes. Either way, a signed cookie keeps you signed in on that device for up to 180 days, or until you sign out.
Payments: if a session charges a fee, we record whether a booking has been paid, waived, or is still owed, and when it was marked paid. If you become a member, we also keep your plan, its start and renewal dates, any pauses, and the same paid or owed record for each membership payment, top-up or refund. We never see or store your card number or full bank details. Membership payments by card or direct debit are handled by Stripe: we keep only Stripe’s reference for each payment, whether it went through, and a description of the bank account or card saved for renewals (such as “Bank account ending 3456”), so payments can be matched to your membership automatically. A booking paid online (by card or PayTo) goes through Stripe the same way, and we keep Stripe’s reference for it and the fee charged. PayID payments happen off our site, and an organiser marks them as settled by checking a bank statement by hand.
Cookies
We use a small number of first-party, signed cookies to keep you signed in or to remember which player you are on this device. We don’t use advertising cookies, analytics trackers, or any third-party tracking scripts.
How we use it
To run club nights: matching you into fair games, keeping score and ratings, showing you your own history, and managing bookings. We send booking confirmations, cancellation notices, and reminder emails about sessions you’ve booked (via Resend, our email delivery provider) — only if a switch for that message type is turned on for the club, and only to the address you booked with.
Who can see what
Your rating and email address are visible only to club organisers. The public leaderboard on the Achievements page shows first and last name plus rating, but only for the club’s top 10 — everyone else’s rating stays private. During a session, other players and the courtside screen can see names (never ratings or emails) of who else is on the board that night. Your own rating and full history are always visible to you, at /stats.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run golo, and we don’t sell your data to anyone or use it for advertising: Neon (database hosting), Vercel (application hosting and file storage for announcement attachments), Resend (sending the emails above, including sign-in links), Google (if you or an organiser choose to sign in with Google — just your name, email and Google account ID), Stripe (if you pay for a membership by card or direct debit, or a booking by card or PayTo — Stripe receives your name, email address and payment details, handles the payment and keeps the records the law requires; see stripe.com/au/privacy).
How long we keep it
We keep game history and ratings as the club’s ongoing record, since matchmaking and achievement boards depend on past results. If you’d like your details updated, merged with another address you’ve used, or removed, contact us and we’ll sort it out — removal is possible for anyone who hasn’t played a recorded game.
